One 'lucky' pup has a new place to call home tonight after being stuck in a storm drain.

"I was just walking, and I heard him, and I couldn't just walk by and just leave him there," said Deanna Knitter.

Knitter said she heard the pup whimpering under a storm drain near 8th Place and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd.

She said she even waved down drivers and asked for help.

Knitter eventually borrowed a phone and called Panama City Police.

Two officers helped rescue the dog out of another drain on 8th street.

Now the pup is in a safer place.

"I got two cats but I guess they'll have to get used to having a new dog around," added Knitter.

Knitter named the pup 'Lucky' just moments after the rescue.
