PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - A Callaway man is accused of sexual battery on a child.
The victim, who is now 17, recently told Panama City Beach police that 55-year-old, James Thomas Smith, sexually assaulted her multiple times over a period of two years while he lived in her Panama City Beach home.
The victim said the incidents began after Smith moved into her home and the two became friends. Smith molested her once when she was 15. Then he began molesting her every night for two years. She added that Smith gave her pills to make her compliant and assaulted her in his bedroom while other members of the family slept.
Smith is charged two counts of sexual battery and one count of lewd and lascivious molestation.
