PARKER, Fla. - Thousands of Bay County students are saying goodbye to the classroom and hello to summer .
Friday was the last day of school for Bay District Schools. At Parker Elementary School, the fire department surprised students on their way out the door by spraying water on the buses.
Parker Mayor Richard Musgraves showed up to wish the kids a happy summer. This was the first year the city and school organized the event.
"Me being my first year here at Parker I wanted to end the school year with a bang, or in this case, a water cannon hose going off from the fire department. So I brought the idea up with Chief Kelly and he talked to Mayor Musgraves and we all made it work!" said Parker Elementary School Principal Chris Coan.
