PANAMA CITY, Fla. - A local organization is doing it's part to support those furthering their education in our community.
The Panhandle Educators Federal Credit Union donated $11,500 in scholarships at the company's annual meeting tonight.
Eleven different students from Bay County's high schools were granted the scholarships.
The students were chosen by each school's leaders.
The CEO of the credit union says he hopes the scholarships inspire the students to succeed in their upcoming college careers.
"This is just another way that Panhandle Educators is giving back to the community. We support teacher of the year, employee of the year, and this is just another way of helping the students make that transition from a high school to a local college," Greg Frith, president and CEO, said.
One lucky student also won a tablet for classes in addition to his scholarship.
