The City of Panama City is under some new management, as Tuesday marked the new assistant city manager's first day on the job.
Jared Jones has officially filled the vacancy left by Jeff Tillman, who left Panama City to take an assistant city manager position in the central Florida town of Auburndale.
Jones has been the St. Andrews CRA program manager since last May.
He also helped initiate the Harrison Avenue street-scape project.
As the new assistant city manager, he will now be in charge of the Community Redevelopment Agency.
Jones said he took the position to be able to build better connections with residents and make positive changes in the city.
"The ability to affect positive change on a great scale and learn what the city does as a whole, not just within the CRA. The confines of the CRA is a small geographic area of the city and just the ability to have a positive impact on the city as a whole,” said New Assistant Panama City City Manager Jared Jones.
Jones said he wants to continue the direction of the CRA and work closely with department heads to encourage team work
