All eyes may be on the Presidential race, but there is a Super Tuesday local election in April. Eight men are seeking the post, being vacated by current Mayor Gayle Oberst. Jim Barr is one of those running for the job. "I am running for Mayor of Panama City Beach because I love Panama City Beach, Barr said, "and I want to help make it a place where families would want to come, 12 months out of the year." On the issue of Spring Break, Barr says he would vote no to college spring break, and yes to more profitable alternatives, like high school students and their parents and church groups. Barr has been in Bay County 16 years and is about to retire from Gulf Coast State College, where he is the Coordinator for Education Partners and Programs, Corporate College. He says he will be a full time Mayor. "I will be beholden to no one, no special interest group, no individual and to reflect that dedication, I will not accept more than $20 dollars, maximum donation" Barr said.
