The election is two and a half weeks away, and Bay County voters will have a decision to make when it comes to their money. A half cent sales tax referendum will be on the ballot. Bay County Chamber President Carol Roberts is in favor of the tax. She also serves at Chairwoman of the "Building a Better Bay" political committee. "It's an ifrastructure improvement sales tax, it will go toward roads and highways, resurfacing projects, sidewalks, it will address our flooding issues" Roberts said. Roberts says if the tax referendum passes on November 8th, the money will be divided by population with all seven municipalities, plus the unincorporated areas of Bay County. "All of those municipalities will have their own citizens oversight committees, Roberts said,"so there will be eight committees overseeing the spending, to insure that it is being spent as it was raised". The half cent sales tax referendum, if it passes, will sunset after ten years. To learn more, go to www.bayhalfcent.com
