PARKER, Fla. - Black Friday arrived earlier than usual for a lot of local shoppers. Ollie's Bargain Outlet in Parker kicked-off it's grand opening sale Wednesday morning.
"It's like Black Friday. It's nice in there, but it's just like a Black Friday," said shopper Marcus Gardner.
Bargain hunters compared Ollie's grand opening to a rat race. "It's my first time doing this, so it was really nice," said shopper Dale Griffin.
Store staff and shoppers celebrated the official opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. All morning there was bumper to bumper traffic, both inside and outside the store located on 406 South Tyndall Parkway.
Parker Mayor Richard Musgrave says he's never seen the parking lot so full. "Even I couldn't find a real parking place."
Musgrave says Ollie's is situated in a heavy trafficking where folks are more likely to stop and shop.
"They're ideally situated because I recall at some point somebody said there were about 40,000 cars a day that go past this place and a lot of them are going to and from Tyndall...I think it's going to benefit all of Tyndall and having the MQ-9 Reaper Wing coming in, with additional 1500 potential shoppers to make sure they'll be delighted with that," said Musgrave.
"I don't know anybody that doesn't love a great deal," said District Team Leader Zack Shields.
Some shoppers say they'll return, but once the pace slows a bit. "Once the crowd dies down then yeah, once the crowd dies down," said Gardner.
Ollie's is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
