PANAMA CITY, Fla. -
This week, one of the most utilized parks in Bay County is getting thousands of dollars worth of upgrades.
The Oakland Terrace Park in Panama City is closed for the installation of $330,000 worth of new playground equipment.
Because of its location between two marinas, the new playground is 'nautical themed' with ship features for kids to play on.
Panama City Director of Leisure Services, Keith Baker, said they also made it a priority for the new equipment to have features that will allow children with disabilities to play on it too.
"Young people that may need assistance can bring their brothers and sisters and they can play together. So it's going to be a really exciting piece when it comes in," he said.
City officials are anticipating this phase of the upgrades to be complete by the end of the month.
