BAY COUNTY, Fla. - People who love to kayak and canoe in St. Andrew Bay now have a new place to launch their watercraft.
Bay County Commissioners dedicated a new kayak and canoe launch in Southport Friday morning to the memory of the late Clark brothers.
Roy and Wayne Clark moved to the area in 1974 and spent much of their free time fishing in North Bay.
Commissioners said they are honored to dedicate the launch to the brothers as they were well respected in the community and known for helping others.
"When we were little, we would go in a lot of times and we didn't know if the food that was cooked on the table in the middle of the day, we would say, is that for us or someone else? and it was always just about for someone else so we had to be very careful," Candy Heintz and Brad Clark said about their father Wayne Clark.
The launch is located at the end of Sandra Road. County Roads and Bridges employees completed the project in two days.
