MARIANNA, Florida - Chipola College has appointed a new president to lead the campus.
Dr. Sarah Clemmons was appointed by the Chipola College District Board of Trustees during Tuesday's meeting.
She served as interim, when former president Jason Hurst resigned in October.
Before then, Clemmons was the Senior Vice President of Instruction for fifteen years.
Clemmons told News 13 that she looks forward to working with the community while serving in her new role.
"I'm so pleased to be asked to lead as Chipola College's president. I'm so looking forward to working with faculty, staff and administrators on our campus, and also with all the different groups in our community. Whether it's the chamber, school district, or businesses," said Clemmons.
Clemmons is the first woman to serve as Chipola College president in the school's 70 year history.
The Chipola College District Board of Trustees has named a new school president.
At a meeting Tuesday, Dr. Sarah Clemmons was unanimously selected as the new college president. Clemmons was previously the Senior Vice President of Instruction and has been serving as the Interim President of Chipola since October of last year, when the former president, Dr. Jason Hurst resigned.
In a press release Clemmons says “I love Chipola College and I am honored to have been asked to serve as president. Chipola has an excellent reputation for academic and student success. I look forward to working with the faculty, staff and administration to build on the great traditions established at Chipola.”
