New Panama City Beach Hotel Opens in Time for Memorial Day

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - After 18 months of construction, the Hilton family opened a brand new beachfront Holiday Inn Express on Front Beach Road on Tuesday.

Holiday Inn Marketing Director, Phillip Colvin said that the property will offer guests some incredible amenities including an indoor pool, a lazy river, a zero-depth entry pool and a fitness room with modernized equipment.

This is the first hotel built directly on the beach in Panama City Beach in 27 years.

"The last hotel that was built directly on the water on Panama City Beach was the Holiday Inn Resort which is the other property that we own which opened in 1990," Colvin said.

The hotel features a lot of technological updates including full WiFi connectivity and tech spaces that Colvin believes will cater to a lot of millennial travelers.

He explained that this hotel is not your typical Holiday Inn Express. It caters to families, and families with children with its larger breakfast area, and spaces in the rooms just for children.

Many believe that this large investment could be a step in the right direction for the local economy. "I think it's a good sign for the economy in general that anybody is willing to take a risk and build a hotel, it's a great sign for the economy in Panama City Beach," he said.

The hotel joins two other local Hilton Family properties, the Holiday Inn Resort and the Holiday Inn across from the mall.
