PANAMA CITY, Fla. - You might have noticed a lot of construction throughout the Panama City area as several new businesses are opening their doors.
Ace Hardware held its grand opening Wednesday in Lynn Haven. In Callaway a fully built Zaxby's is ready to open it's doors to customers. Also in Callaway, a strip of land originally scheduled to be a movie theater and shopping center is now being prepped for townhouses, according to city officials.
"It's a pretty good sign of the local economy when you start seeing new businesses open up and such. So just currently on the books the Bay County Chamber has eight scheduled grand openings for the month. So that's a pretty good indication of what the economy is doing and there certainly is a sign of recovery for the entire area," said Carol Roberts, President of Bay Co. Chamber of Commerce.
Officials with the Bay County Chamber of Commerce also attribute the boom to a business friendly environment setup up by local elected officials.
