PARKER, Fla. - The mother who allegedly stayed silent after her child's father killed her son last summer is being held in the Bay County Jail without bond.
Yanoshua Ramos Melendez, 25, made first appearance Tuesday on a charge of aggravated manslaughter. She was extradited to Bay County from New York this weekend.
In December, the child's father Gene Anthony Quinones-Rivera, 27, walked into the Parker Police Department and confessed to the murder of his two-month-old son in June of 2015. He then led authorities to the remains of the infant in a wooded area near Mexico Beach.
Parker Police investigators said Melendez had ample opportunity to confess the crime, starting with the day of the murder. Lt. Aaron Wilson said she confirmed going to the Lowes to pick up items to dispose of the body. There were also instances after the couple left Bay County, relocating in Mississippi where she could have told law enforcement about the fate of her son.
Officials said they will begin looking at additional charges for both suspects.
Melendez's next court date is set for March 14th.
