WALTON COUNTY, Fla - Two suspects in a crime spree that began in California and ended in Florida are now behind bars in Walton County.
The Walton County Sheriffs Office says they investigated several vehicle burglaries in Miramar Beach on January 30th. The same day, the suspects attempted to cash a stolen check in Pensacola using a driver's license stolen from a man in California. But that man's mother told authorities her son was already behind bars.
She did identify 25-year-old Daniel Asano as one of her son's family friends. That investigation led authorities to Asano and Gweynn Brown in Tallahassee, who they say committed similar crimes in Bay, Santa Rosa and Escambia counties.
They were extradited to Walton County where they face more than 15 charges including Grand Theft.
