BAY COUNTY, Fla. - Two hundred and fifty zombies were chasing around humans at HG Harders Park Saturday morning for the 5th Annual Running Scared Zombie 5K.
Runners "ran scared" through the elaborate course, tackling obstacles and trying to avoid being caught by zombies. All proceeds raised from the 5K go towards the Gulf Coast Children's Advocacy center with a focus on supporting abused and neglected children. People of all ages took on the unique course as zombies tried to pull their flags indicating their lifelines.
"The zombies are after you to pull your tag, however we do have FEMA stations at the end of every zone you can refill your tags and you're not running through with none," said Samantha Lopez, Family Support Coordinator.
Organizers say that a little over three hundred runners registered and that this has been their most successful year yet.
