Prosecutors have indicted a Mossy Head man for first degree murder in the death of his 8-week old son.

Harold Bielec, Jr.'s arrest affidavit stated that the child was fine at a family lunch on December 13 of 2015 but at 8 p.m. that night the infant was breathing funny. At 12:30 a.m. the child was unresponsive and breathing funny, according to the report which was created from statements made by family members.

Instead of calling EMS to his home Bielec said he attempted to take the child to the hospital himself. He ended up at a Raceway Gas Station on 14338 on Highway 90 in West Defuniak Springs. Deputies and emergency workers were called to the area and found Bielec attempting to perform CPR on the baby.

An autopsy revealed the baby died of blunt trauma to the head and neck.
