PANAMA CITY, Fla. - The mother who allegedly stayed silent in June of 2015 after her child's father killed her son and then helped him bury the baby in a wooded area of Eastern Bay County pleaded not guilty Tuesday.
Yanoshua Ramos Melendez, 25, is charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child.
In December, 27-year-old Gene Anthony Quinones-Rivera walked into the Parker Police Department and confessed to the murder of his two-month-old son. He then led authorities to the remains of the infant in a wooded area near Mexico Beach.
On Monday Quinones-Rivera pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Melendez is scheduled to return to court in May.
