Mexico Beach Referendum Passes

BAY COUNTY, Fl - Mexico Beach residents vote to pass a "Leave No Trace" Ordinance for their beaches. Mexico Beach Referendum Results are as follows: Yes-255/58% No-179/41% The ordinance stated that nothing can be left on the beach unattended from seven in the evening, until seven in the morning. Thirty five percent of registered voters turned out to cast a ballot on the controversial referendum. The Citizens Committee that petitioned for the ordinance, said over the last few summers, items being left on the beach overnight have become a huge issue. Bay County Supervisor of Elections Mark Andersen says the vote results are official.
