Mexico Beach has a new police chief. Anthony Kelly will take over the department. Kelly was already a member of the Mexico Beach force, serving as a crime scene investigator for the last two years.
He also served in the Air Force and has more than 26 years in law enforcement.
Chief Kelly says he is looking forward to the future and growing with the police department. He says he'll put an emphasis on training.
"It's a young department, but it's a department that's willing to learn, to grow in the community. We are accepted well into the community and my goal is to continue in an upward movement and continue the education."
Kelly takes over for Glenn Norris, who resigned from the job in September after four first responders sued the city, claiming Norris discriminated against them.
The city settled the lawsuit last week.
