Marijuana smell leads officers to 2 pounds of pot

The scent of weed led to officers to a large pot bust, Panama City police wrote in a news release.

An officer responded to an alarm call at a church on W. 21st Street and while checking the church property the responding patrol officer noticed the smell of marijuana. He located the residence on W. 21st Street from which it was emitting and contacted investigators.

A search warrant was served on the residence and 905.3 Grams (just over two pounds of marijuana) was located and seized along with drug paraphernalia, the news release states.

One .380 cal. semi-automatic handgun and a Jennings 9mm semi-automatic handgun were also seized.

John File, 26, was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of xanax, possession of drug paraphernalia and keeping and maintaining a nuisance drug house.
