MARIANNA, Fla. - Jackson County residents kicked off Independence Day a day early.
On Monday night, thousands of people packed Madison Street Park in Marianna for the '7th Annual July 4th Fireworks Show'.
'Dickey Merrit & the Original Bama Jam' band performed throughout the evening leading up to fireworks display.
The patriotic party was especially fun for the kids.
Madison Street Park had several arts and crafts vendors, food vendors, and two bounce houses.
Families who'd like to cool off, also enjoyed the second new splash pad that was installed in late March.
Marianna Main Street Director Charlotte Brunner said the city celebrates Independence Day early because it saves the county money.
She said residents will also have an extra day to relax after the festivities.
"A lot of people are off tomorrow, so it gives people that opportunity to come tonight and enjoy - and again, it's just been a great event for our community," said Brunner.
