A Panama City Beach man who was seriously injured in a house fire is a "person of interest" in the case, according to the State Fire Marshal's Office.
Officials said Monday that Corey Leeser was in stable condition at a local hospital after he suffered second and third degree burns following a fire in the 100 block of Hombre Circle.
Witnesses on scene told News 13 that Leeser escaped the home while on fire, stopped and rolled on the ground and eventually made his way to a pond where he finally put out the blaze by diving into the water.
A gas can and other evidence of an arson was found inside the home, investigators said. The fire caused about $30,000 in damage, officials added.
The incident remains under investigation.
