Update: Shooting victim dies from injuries

PANAMA CITY, Fla - Update:

The 25-year old victim in Friday night's shooting at the Macedonia Garden Apartments died from his injuries, according to Panama City Police Chief Scott Ervin.

Ervin said investigators were also talking with a person of interest Saturday afternoon, but they hadn't filed any charges in the shooting yet.


One person is in the hospital and the suspect is on the run after a shooting at the Macedonia Garden Apartments on 17th Street Friday night. 

According to the Panama City Police Department, the 25 year old victim was shot in the chest a little after 7:00 and is undergoing surgery. 

Panama City Police Chief Scott Irvin described what happened. 

"We have an approximately 25-year-old black male standing in the courtyard and was having a conversation with some girls and another gentlemen walked up. Some words were exchanged, it appears the shooter turned like he was going to leave and then turned around and started firing shots at our victim. The victim was struck several times in the torso area."

The shooter is still on the run. Authorities do not believe this incident is connected to the recent string of violence in Panama City at this time.
