Lynn Haven to Open City's First Official Dog Park

LYNN HAVEN, Fla. - The City of Lynn Haven's parks have undergone major renovations within the last couple of years.

Sheffield park was finished about a month ago.

Now, local dogs will have their own new playground as well.

The sign tells you no pets on ball fields but that won't be the case for much longer.

"This is something that residents have been asking for," Mayor Margo Anderson said.

Lynn Haven's first ever park designated exclusively for dogs and their owners.

"This park has been under used for some time, so this is just one more addition to this beautiful area," Anderson said.

A.L. Kinsaul park's old baseball field is already completely fenced in, keeping dogs safe from cars nearby.

The park will be divided with small dogs taking over the area around first base, and bigger dogs taking over a larger area around second and third bases.

There will also be a staging area where people can go in and take the dog off the leash without it running away.

A walking path will surround the dog park so owners can get their heart rates up as well.

Kevin McLeod and his dog Bear already spend about three days a week running around A.L. Kinsaul park.

"We can socialize with other people and the dogs can socialize," he said.

"Really it's just installing some new fences, and trying to put some more grass, a few props, maybe a fire hydrant or two, so we'll see," Anderson said.

Mayor Anderson said the finished dog park will be ready in the next few weeks.

Lynn Haven is still asking for your help in their 'Meet Me at the Park' challenge.
