LYNN HAVEN, Fla. - The city of Lynn Haven announced it will recognize black history month with a special event this week.
It's the first year that the city has taken the initiative to create an event celebrating black history in Lynn Haven.
A reception will be held at the beginning of the regularly scheduled commission meeting Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
The city's first African American mayor, Sharon Sheffield, and the first elected African American Commissioner for Lynn Haven, Mr. Leon Miller, will speak. North Bay Haven elementary's choir will also perform.
Starting 9 a.m. Tuesday, you'll find black history art from several local schools on display until the reception begins.
