LYNN HAVEN, FL - One local group is working to bring awareness to animal homelessness and hunger in Bay County.
On Sunday, members of the 'Kibbles N' Kovers' organization hosted their first annual chili cook-off in Lynn Haven.
The event was hosted at American Legion Post 356.
Proceeds from the benefit will go towards the organization to help homeless pet owners feed their cat or dog.
The group also accepted donated food and blankets.
Founder Hilary Slanten said folks should help animal shelters also.
"The Humane Society in Bay County they also have a food pantry. However, it's a very limited amount, and they're never enough to go through even one month of the few people that use them now. So we need to get to get the word out that we really need food sent to the food pantries there," said Slanten.
The group is also working on having a continuous drop-off donation at Legion Post 356.
The show will be at the AMIkids building on 200 East Beach Drive.
