HOLMES COUNTY, Fla. - A Laurel Hill man was arrested Friday night after Holmes County Sheriff's deputies say he led them on a chase.
Investigators said they were trying to find a person of interest in a recent burglary when they tried to stop a suspicious maroon Chevy pickup with an Alabama tag on Vallee Road in Ponce de Leon.
They said the driver Jerry Simmons, 48, refused to stop, and they followed him down several roads to Reynolds Lane, where Simmons got out of his truck and ran.
Holmes and Walton Correctional K-9 teams responded and were able to track the suspect and arrest him.
Simmons was not the person of interest but was charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, and driving while license suspended. Simmons was also on state probation and faces an additional charge of violation of probation.
