DESTIN, Fla. - A Kentucky teenager was treated for a minor shark bite in Destin.
Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies said the 17-year old tourist was bit on the leg around 3:30 p.m. Sunday while swimming in the gulf behind the Sundestin Condominiums.
Witnesses said a five foot shark bit the girl while she was near the second sandbar. Initial reports described the injuries as a scratch to her left leg, as well as a puncture wound on her right leg which required stitches.
The teen was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for treatment.
