MARIANNA, Fla. - Patients in Jackson County no longer have to leave town for certain heart procedures.
Jackson Hospital has expanded their operating room and added a special "Hybrid" room to perform a number of minor surgeries.
With some help from Interventional Cardiologist, Dr. William Dixon and the Jackson Hospital team, heart catheterization and more will now be offered in Marianna.
"Studies that I order in the office, I could sent to Tallahassee for all of those. But the ones that I could do here at Jackson Hospital I send them here," said Dr. Dixon.
Employees of Jackson Hospital were traveling to Tallahassee for training on diagnostic cardiac studies.
Now that the 'hybrid room' is fully functioning with state of the art technology, Dr. Dixon and the Jackson Hospital cardiac team are performing procedures in Jackson County.
The hybrid room is equipped, so in addition to heart procedures, other minor surgeries can take place.
