Homicide under investigation in Jackson County

Jackson County Sheriff Lou Roberts says his agency is in the early stages of homicide investigation. 

The body of 33-year-old Michael Sheffield was found laying in a roadway this morning at a trailer park that locals refer to as Ditty's near State 71 north of Greenwood. 

"We have a lot of guys going in different directions looking," Roberts said. "We're really just getting started."

He added that the crime lab from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement was arriving on scene at about 11 a.m. this morning. 

While the investigation is in it's early stages Roberts said his agency already has some people of interest who are being questioned. 

Jackson County Sheriff Lou Roberts confirmed Friday that blunt force trauma will most likely be the cause of death for in an apparent homicide in Greenwood. The investigation is ongoining.
