BAY COUNTY, Fla. - It's been a tragic start to the new school year for Bay District School teachers and students.
"We have a team of social workers and counselors who will be at each of those schools to provide support and a listening ear to students or staff members who may need such support at this time," Latriva Varnum said.
Student Services Staff met Sunday afternoon to arrange for grief counselors at Lucille Moore Elementary School and Arnold High School Monday following the deaths of a paraprofessional and student.
"The biggest thing we can do to provide assistance is just to provide a listening ear and to follow their lead and answer questions as best we can," Varnum said.
Staff added counselors at all schools are prepared to talk with any grieving student or faculty member.
