BAY COUNTY, Fl - Per Governor Rick Scott, Bay District Schools will be closed Friday and Monday. The Governor ordered all schools closed across the state, ahead of Hurricane Irma.
While the severe weather is not forecast for the Panhandle as of Thursday evening, schools in Bay County may be put into use as shelters for hurricane evacuees from other parts of Florida, who need to come to the Panhandle.
Bay District Superintendent Bill Husfelt says it will be up to individual Principals as to whether or not extra curricular activities like football games will continue or be cancelled on Friday and Saturday. All activities will however be cancelled on Monday.
As for Bay Base after school programs, Husfelt says Bay Base will operate on regular hours Friday afternoon, 2-6pm, but will be closed on Monday.
