A Youngstown man was rescued after his SUV burst into flames following a Tuesday night crash.
Troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said Jonathon Chiodo lost control of a 2002 Dodge Durango on Baldwin Road near Hall Avenue. The SUV went off the roadway, ended up in a culvert on its passenger side and burst into flames. A driver passing by saw the flames, ran to the vehicle and was able to free Chiodo and pull him to safety, troopers wrote in a news release.
The name of that good Samaritan is not listed in the report.
Chiodo is in serious condition at a local hospital. He is charged with failing to use due care.
