WALTON COUNTY, Fla. - The days long manhunt for a man wanted in connection with several recent car thefts and burglaries in Walton and Okaloosa counties comes to an end.
Authorities say 31-year old Eric Dewayne Russell had been on the run since Florida Fish and Wildlife officers initially attempted to pull him over for a traffic stop on Sunday.
He was taken into custody around 10 p.m.Thursday night by Walton County Deputies.
Russell is responsible for a string of burglaries over the past few days, stealing trucks & atvs and running from deputies. Authorities say he is also responsible for the death of Okaloosa Correctional K9 "Freckles", who passed away while tracking Russell.
