FOUNTAIN, Fla. - An eight-year-old Fountain boy was critically injured Saturday night when his father accidentally pinned him between a semi tractor and a trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said 49-year old Clyde E. Phillipp of Fountain was backing a semi tractor on Forest Glen Drive around 9:20 p.m. in order to connect to a flatbed trailer.
Mr. Phillipp wasn't aware that his son Johnathon Phillipp was riding on the truck behind the cab, troopers wrote in a crash report.
Troopers said the father wasn't able to properly connect the two so the front of the flatbed trailer hit the back of the cab which pinned the boy against the rear of the cab.
Johnathon was taken to Bay Medical Sacred Heart with critical injuries.
Troopers charged Mr. Phillipp with driving under the influence and causing serious bodily injury.
