Tallahassee, FL -      The Florida Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has named Panama Cty Businessman and Republican State Senator George Gainer as it's 2017 State Senator of the Year.   The official announcement took place Thursday morning at the state capital building in Tallahassee.  the FOP also named Rep. Jayer Williamson (R) of Pace as the Representative of the Year during the same ceremony.  Sen. Gainer received the award following a vote of the FOP’s full membership.  It comes during the first year of Gainer's first term in office.

“True Statesmen are few and far between and today we are honoring Senator George Gainer as our senator of the year,” said Florida Fraternal Order of Police President Robert Jenkins. “Senator Gainer has shown steadfast commitment and distinguished character as a freshman legislator.”

“I am honored to be named the Fraternal Order of Police Senator of the Year," said Senator Gainer.  "I can’t think of an award that carries more distinction than this one.  I’m honored to stand with law enforcement and give them the tools they need to keep us safe. As policymakers, we must ensure they are treated fairly when we ask them to do so much and make ever greater sacrifices.”
