Florida Woman Hides Lighter in Buttocks; Starts Fire in Holding Cell

OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla - Only in Florida...

A Fort Walton Beach woman is being charged with arson after she lit a roll of toilet paper on fire with a lighter she had hidden in a roll of body fat in her buttocks.

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, deputies arrested 37-year-old Amber Koestler after her girlfriend said Koestler had struck her at a home on Scranton Street near Fort Walton Beach.

Deputies say Koestler was combative in the patrol car, punching and kicking the door inside the car. She was able to get out of her handcuffs and when deputies opened the door to restrain her, Koestler grabbed the cuffs and tried to use them as a weapon. A taser was used but one probe did not make contact so it was not effective. Deputies were able to put the handcuffs back on Koestler but she continued to be combative and attempted to bite a deputy at the booking facility.

A short time after she was put into a holding cell, deputies began to smell smoke. Fearing an electrical fire, they began to evacuate the prisoners. They soon discovered Koestler had concealed a lighter in her buttocks and had used it to set a roll of toilet paper on fire inside her holding cell.

No one was injured.

Koestler is being charged with felony domestic battery, resisting arrest, and arson.
