First Responders get new View of the Heart

PANAMA CITY, Fla. - Bay County's first responders bridge the gap between a medical emergency situation and the hospital.

And Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center doctors say they are always looking to help educate the people who can make a difference.

On Tuesday, Cardiologist Dr. Don Davis hosted 15 paramedics and firefighters this afternoon for a class on understanding the heart.

Each student was given a 'pig heart' to study and dissect.

Davis said it is common in medicine to use pig hearts because they are nearly identical to human hearts.
