FHP: 'Driver Failed to Stop' Panama City Beach Motorcyclist Killed

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - A fatal crash is under investigation in Bay County Tuesday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision involving a motorcycle and a car happened around 5:45 p.m. on Thomas Drive near Luff street.

40-year-old Sandy Stone driving a Lincoln MKX failed to stop before making a left turn causing 33-year-old Veronica Jett of Panama City Beach riding on a motorcycle to crash into the side of Stone's vehicle.

The motorcycle was sent spinning following the collision.

Jett later died from her injuries at Bay Medical Sacred Heart.

One witness says he saw it all happen.

"A car was rushing to make a turn, not taking a second look and plowing into a motorcycle sending a girl flying. Her motorcycle helmet went flying off before she even hit the ground," Bryce Baker, another PCB resident, said.

We will have more information as it becomes available.
