Tallahassee, FL - A controversial statement by a member of the Florida Highway Patrol has some concerned that troopers have ticket quotas.
Major Mark Welch in Tallahassee emailed troopers under his command asking for two citations per hour.
Welch is the commander for FHP Troop H which includes patrols in Liberty and Franklin Counties.
In a statement to the media yesterday, the FHP says they "do not have a quota".
FHP veteran Lt. Col. Michael Thomas says, "it's not a quota but more like a want... and Welch should have chosen his words better."
