PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. - As the sun rose this morning, so did the congregation. Eastgate Christian Fellowship Church gathered on Panama City Beach for a sunrise Easter service.
Pastor Rob Woodrum says they've been holding a sunrise service on the beach for ten to fifteen years. It's the congregation's most highly anticipated service.
About one hundred people congregated at Rick Seltzer Park. Church members filtered onto the beach around 6am as the sun was beginning to rise. Members sat on beach chairs and towels, while singing songs and praying.
"Just being out here with my family - and not just my blood family, but all my family because I'm a christian and my family's everywhere - it's just awesome. Then, people walk up on the beach, and they're not part of Eastgate, and they come sit down. That's what makes it really cool," said member Kristi Vause.
