BAY COUNTY, Fla. - A well known Bay District School teacher and president of the Association of Bay County Educators (ABCE) officially retired Wednesday.
Diane Wishart, a video and web design and math instructor at Mowat Middle School, turned in her resignation letter to the district last week.
Wishart is the wife of the late Ray Wishart, a recently retired Mosley High School teacher who was killed in a bicycle accident earlier this year.
Mrs. Wishart said she is making one of the hardest decisions of her career and that decision is to retire starting today. She said she will continue on with plans she and her late husband had for retirement, traveling, woodworking in his shop, and spending time with family.
Wishart passes the gavel of union president on to her vice president Alexis Underwood, who now takes on the role as ABCE president.
