Destin, Fla - There is relief for a Georgia family who thought they had lost the "cremains" of a relative, and are surprised when they are found.
On July 7th, a plastic bag washed ashore in Destin and the contents were unexpected. Inside the bag was cremated remains and information about the deceased. Including a name tag, date of birth, social security number, case number and location of death, which was DeKalb County Georgia.
The Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office contacted the family to give them the news. They said they had gone to a spot in Georgia to pray and thought the cremains were with them. But, the box disappeared and there was fear that they were stolen.
The family says they have no connection to Destin, and no clue how the cremains ended up on the panhandle beach.
The package has been returned safely to the grateful family.
