MARIANNA, Fla. - Chipola College is the second smallest institution among Florida's 28 state colleges but it is the top-ranked school in an annual evaluation tied to performance funding.
"We were at the top of that gold tier this year so we are just so pleased," said Chipola College President, Dr. Sarah Clemmons.
Chipola serves about 3,100 students in Marianna alone and received the highest point total in the state's performance assessment.
The assessment measures colleges on issues such as retention of students, graduation times, and job placement.
Dr. Clemmons believes that the students played a great role in helping the college make it to the top.
"It doesn't happen if you don't have students that have a work ethic, and that come with a purpose and have a career and they want to be leaders. So it speaks very well of our students. We're so proud of them."
Chipola will receive more than $750,000 thousand in performance funding for the 2017-2018 school year.
