BCSO: Woman Charged with Mailing Drugs to Inmate

Panama City, Fla. - The girlfriend of a Bay County jail inmate is now in jail herself for allegedly trying to use the mail to smuggle drugs into the facility, Bay County Sheriff's deputies wrote in a news release.

A mail clerk recently spotted a greeting card was sent to an inmate that looked as though someone had tampered with it. The clerk opened the envelope and inspected the card, discovering two strips of the narcotic Suboxone hidden inside the card.

A second card was discovered in the mail a short time later, also sent to the same inmate. It was found to contain more strips of Suboxone.

Subsequent investigation revealed the cards were sent by a girlfriend of the inmate, Katie Foley, 27, of 4911 S. Lakewood Drive, Parker. A warrant for her arrest was issued and the suspect turned herself into the Warrants Division on November 23, 2017.

Foley was charged with introduction of contraband to a detention facility.
