BCSO: Panama City Man Arrested After Children Found in Street

Panama City, Fla. - A Panama City man facing three counts of child neglect after he allegedly fell asleep when he was supposed to be watching a 3-year-old, a 2-year-old and a 1-year-old.

Bay County Sheriff's deputies were called to Chaucer Circle after two small children were reported to be in the street and unsupervised. A third child was alone in a backyard, while 22-year-old Andrew Davis was asleep on a couch, deputies wrote in an arrest affidavit.

Deputies had a difficult time waking Davis up and when they did rouse him, he claimed he was not in charge of the children and that the children's mother was in the house when he went to sleep.

However, the mother told deputies Davis was awake when she left and he had agreed to watch the children. Deputies also found phone records that indicated Davis was lying about when he went to sleep, deputies wrote.

The children were not injured during the incident.
