Panama City Beach, Fla. - A Panama City Beach man's actions led to the death of two dogs, Bay County Sheriff's deputies wrote in a news release.
Jason Reece was arrested for disorderly conduct on Sunday after leaving his van in the parking lot of the Dollar General on Thomas Drive. Reece was so intoxicated that he failed to let anyone know about his three dogs who were stuck, helpless, in kennels in the back of the van, deputies wrote.
Two of the three dogs died "as a result of prolonged exposure to heat inside the unventilated vehicle," deputies added.
Deputies only found the van and the dogs after Reece's wife called asking about them on Monday afternoon.
Reece is charged with cruelty to animals that results in death or extreme suffering.
