Bay Sheriff Tommy Ford Named to Standards and Training Commission

Tallahassee, Fla. - Governor Rick Scott appointed Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford to the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission this week.

The commission is responsible for establishing uniform minimum standards for the employment and training of law enforcement, corrections and correctional probation officers, establishes officer training programs, certifies officers that successfully complete the basic recruit training program and officer certification exam and administers sanctions and discipline when an officer is found to be in violation of Florida law or Commission standards, officials wrote in a news release.

Ford said that he is honored to serve on the Commission to prepare new officers "for the challenges of this noble profession and to protect the honor of our profession by reviewing and administering discipline to those officers that violate their oath of office."
