Bay District Employee Arrested for Battery with a Deadly Weapon

BAY COUNTY, Fla. - An employee with Bay District schools has been arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. 

Reports say 37 year-old Stephanie Nicole Burkett allegedly hit her husband in the head with what appeared to be a brick after he returned home late from a fishing trip.

Reports say it started as a verbal altercation then turned physical. The victim stated that Burkett tried to hit him again but he tackled her to the ground before she could. 

Burkett is expected to be in court on April 3rd at 1:30 pm

Bay District schools tell us Burkett is a member of the transportation office staff and has no contact with students. She will return to work pending the outcome of her court case.
